All efforts will be made to curb power thefts: Minister
Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Energy Minister Dilip Valse-Patil today said in the House that eforts to reduce power thefts in the state by even one per cent could lead to a saving of Rs 200 crore.
Making a statement on a calling attention notice by Govindrao Adik and Sanjay Dutt (Congress), and others, Mr Valse-Patil said the government is committed to prevent power thefts.
A DIG-level officer has been appointed to check power thefts, while 36 vigilance squads have been formed, he informed. Power theft is now a non-bailable offence, he said.
