18 more faculties proposed at MP university
Bhopal, Aug 2: A proposal to open 18 more faculties, at the city-based Barkatullah University, has been sent to UGC and efforts are underway to enhance the number of students from 3,000 to 10,000, Vice-Chancellor R S Sirohi said.
While inaugurating the varsity's 37th Foundation Day programme in the Gyan Vigyan Bhavan's auditorium yesterday, Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar assured that all possible cooperation would be extended by him for the university's development. Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Tukoji Rao Puar was among those present, an official release said here.
On reported irregularities in the varsity, Dr Jakhar said, ''I am not with the guilty and also do not believe in punishing the innocent before accusations are established.'' He released a magazine 'Apurva' published by the university.
Employees' union President Jagdish Katiar urged that allocation of varsity land to other institutions should be cancelled.
Bhoj Open University VC Kamlakar Singh, several students, alumni and faculty members were also present, the release added.
