161 talukas in Guj receive heavy to moderate rainfall

Gandhinagar, Aug 2 (UNI) As many as 161 talukas in Gujarat received heavy to moderate rainfall in the past 24 hours since the second spell of rains began lashing the State from July 28.

According to emergency response centre of the state meteorological department, of the 161 talukas, 63 talukas received two to 10 inches of rainfall, while 98 talukas received half to one inch rainfall.

The Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts in the state recorded heavy rainfall. In Banaskantha district, Vav taluka received 267 mm of rainfall, Diyodar taluka in the same district 230 mm, Bhabhar taluka 205 mm, Dhanera taluka 145 mm, Kankaraje taluka in the same district 149 mm, Tharad taluka in the district 131 mm and Amirgadh in the same district 122 mm.

In Sabarkantha district, Prantij received 136 mm, Umarpada in the Surat district 130 mm, Manasa in the Gandhinagar district 99 mm, Kadi of Mehsana district 117 mm, Radhanpur of Patan district 116 mm, Idar of Sabarkantha district 115 mm and Dhansura received 99 mm of rainfall.

Eighteen talukas in the state received moderate rainfall, which included Data 71 mm, Disa 92 mm, Palanpur 73 mm, Vadgam 94 mm, Kalol 92 mm, Lakhpat 90 mm, Mehsana 86 mm, Vadnagar 83 mm, Vijapur 75 mm, Satalasana 75 mm, Chikhali 90 mm, Vansada 81 mm, Santalpur 81 mm, Himmatnagar 84 mm, Vadali 79 mm, Valod 72 mm, Chhota Udepur 78 mm and Dabhoi received 95 mm of rainfall.

In 31 talukas of the state, Dhandhuka recorded 49 mm, Mandal 61 mm, Viramgam 56 mm, Dantiwada 68 mm, Dang 54 mm, Gandhinagar 52 mm, Abdasa 57 mm, Bhuj 52 mm, Rapar 70 mm, Becharaji 62 mm, Unjha 50 mm, Gandevi 70 mm, Navsari 55 mm, Harij 60 mm, Patan 66 mm, Khedbramha 62 mm, Meghraj 56 mm, Modasa 60 mm, Talod 64 mm, Mahua 65 mm, Songadh 64 mm, Uchchal 57 mm, Dasada 52 mm, Quant 57 mm, Naswadi 66 mm and Sankheda received 62 mm of rainfall.

More than one inch of rainfall was recorded in 50 talukas of the state, while more than half inch of rainfall was recorded in 48 talukas.

As a result of the rainfall, 30 reservoirs of the state including 13 in central Gujarat and 17 in Saurashtra region are overflowing.

Today, the reservoirs stored 9,473.97 million cubic meter water.

High alert was issued to 55 reservoirs that stored 90 to 100 per cent of water, 17 reservoirs stored 80 to 90 per cent of water and 16 reservoirs stored 70 to 80 per cent of water.
