Vijayawada division cancells two express trains

Vijayawada, Aug 1 (UNI) The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway (SCR) today cancelled two express trains bound for Chennai due to the non arrival of its pairing trains from Chennai, following the derailment of an empty rake at the Chennai Central coach yard last evening.

Railway sources told UNI here that the Kakinada-Chennai Circar Express and Vijayawada-Chennai Janashatabdi Superfast train were cancelled.

Due to the dislocation, four express trains were running behind schedule, the Cennai Howrah Mail, scheduled to arrive at 0620 hrs here would arrive at 1430 hrs, the Chennai-Jaipur Express scheduled to arrive at 0030 hrs past midnight would arrive Vijayawada at 1545 hrs.

The Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express scheduled to arrive at 0415 hrs early today would reach Vijayawada at 1555 hrs and the Chennai-Jammu Tawi Andaman Express to arrive at 1430 hrs would arrive at 1700 hrs, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the parcel van of the Muzafferpur-Yeshwantpur Express was derailed at Appikatla near Baptala around 0230 hrs past midnight.

However, there were no casualties nor injuries to the passengers as the other coaches of the train were intact, the sources said, adding as the train was running on the loop line, all express trains were running as usual in the section.

The restoration work was taken up on a warfooting and the train had left Apikatla at 0530 hrs on its onward journey, the sources said.
