Kolkata, Aug 1 (UNI) All the workers of the unorganised sector would take part in the August 8 CITU-sponsored countrywide 24-hour strike, CITU leader Md Nizamuddin said here today.

Talking to reporters, he said for the first time all the newspaper hawkers' unions and security personnel of the ATMs, markets and towers would participate in the strike in support of their 15-point charter of demands and to protest the Congress-led UPA government's ''non-implementation'' of National Common Minimum Programme(NCMP).

He said the Left was extending outside support to the UPA government at the Centre on the basis of the CMP and though the Centre had assured in the agenda that the unorganised sector workers would be protected by the social security, it was yet to be implemented even after three years of its rule.

He, however, said private and mini buses will ply, adding, '' We will not force anybody to participate in the bandh. '' The 15-points demands included social security to the unorganised sector workers, same wages for men and women labourers and a national policy for them, he stated.

He said the CITU would also organise a rally here favour of the strike on Aug three to be addressed by CITU president Shyamal Chakraborty and state secretary Kali Ghosh.
