Spice Mobile launches GSM-CDMA technology dual phone

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Spice Mobiles Ltd today launched the 'Spice Dual' phone which enables the user to make or recieve calls from any two SIM from the same phone as well as receive and send SMS.

The Spice Dual phone is based on the system of 'master' and 'slave' technology which makes it the countries first dual mode phone with the inbuilt system of two SIM cards at the same time. Two variants of the phone was launched with D-88 supporting GSM+CDMA active connections at the same time and D-80 catering to GSM +GSM active connections at the same time.

The phone is targeted to all who have two cell phone numbers and looking at carrying just one phone.

''The market scenario prompted us to introduce the dual phone with an estimated eight per cent of mobile phone subscribers already having two numbers,'' Spice Mobile CEO Kunal Ahuja said.

The company expects to sell 50,000 units of the cell by the month end across India, said company Head Sales K Muzaffar.

Priced aggresively at Rs 9,849 the phone allows the user to switch from one connection to the other by pressing a button and it comes 1.3 megapixel camera, 262000 TFT and a two inch vibrant color screen and expandable memory.

The company said its in talks with major CDMA players like Reliance and Tata Indicom to bundle the phones.
