Slides kill 3 in West Sikkim

Gangtok, Aug 1 (UNI) Three family members were killed when a landslide, triggered by incessant rainfall, washed away a house completely at Dentam bazaar, West Sikkim, early today.

While Kumar Pradhan survived with major injuries, his wife Migma Pradhan (35), son Lalit(15) and daughter Lila(14) died in the incident.

According to West district disaster management officer Jigmee Bhutia, the incident took place at around 0230 hrs. Kumar Pradhan has been admitted to Dentam primary health center.

Another house belonging to Bhim Bahadur Pradhan was also washed away by the slide. However, all his family members managed to escape, said Mr Bhutia.

UNI
