SAD activists booked for attacking Municipal Commissioner
Moga, Aug 1 (UNI) The local police has registered a criminal case against three Shiromani Akali Dal supporters and about 10 others for allegedly threatening and firing at Devinder Singh Lilly, Municipal Commissioner.
According to SSP Devinder Singh Garcha, Devinder Singh Lilly, MC, had made a complained that the SAD supporters, identified as Raju Deora, Rajan alias Soni and Sukhjinder Singh, had threatened him on phone on Monday night asking him to withdraw his support to Congress candidate from ward 27. They later tried to force entry into his residence and fired some shots aiming to kill him, Mr Lilly alleged.
According to the SSP, after verification of the incident, police registerd a case against the accused last night under section 336 and 148-149 IPC and had assured full protection to the complainant.
Meanwhile, the police was yet to take action on Raju Deora's complaint made on Monday morning alleging that Devinder Singh Lilly and his supporters armed with firearms arrived at his jewellary shop and in his absence threatened his nephew that they will ''teach a lesson to Raju Deora for opposing the Congress candidate contesting from ward number 27.''
