Pvt transport operators' plan to stage dharna foiled

Sangli, Maharashtra, Aug 1 (UNI) Police today foiled the attempt of private transport operators to stage a dharna in front of the house of Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil at Anjani village in Tasgaon tehsil of the district today over their demand seeking withdrawal of ban on private operators.

The police prevented the operators from entering Tasgaon and stopped them at Pachava mail crossing point, where they staged a dharna.

Later, sub-divisional officer visted the agitators and told them that he had spoken to Mr Patil on phone who assured him that the government would soon take a decision on this issue.

Only after the assurance from the officer they withdrew their agitation.
