PM's visit of no benefit to AP, claims TDP
Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit is of ''no benefit to Andhra Pradesh'', the main opposition Telugu Desam Party claimed today.
''The Prime Minister came and went giving a good conduct certificate to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,'' TDP General Secretary K Srihari told reporters here.
Challenging the ruling Congress to come for a debate on welfare measures during the present Congress and past TDP regimes, the former Minister claimed that 30 lakh houses were constructed during the then TDP regime, winning from the Centre special award for seven years.
On the other hand, only six lakh houses were constructed in the first three years of the Congress rule, Mr Srihari contended.
The Congress Government had not initiated action against the guilty, even after its own reports allegedly revealed gross irregularities in implementation of the INDIRAMMA scheme, he charged.
