Patkar on hunger strike

Indore, Aug 1 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar today went on hunger strike at the District Jail here in protest against being charged with violating prohibitory orders after being granted bail under section 151 of the IPC.

The activist, who was arrested at Barwani along with more than 100 associates during a Zameen Hak Satyagraha, is being taken to that district headquarters for a hearing.

''She was charged under various sections,'' said the NBA support group's Chinmay Mishra.
