One person electrocuted in TN

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Aug 1 (UNI) A middle-aged man was electrocuted when he came into contact with a snapped live wire following heavy rains at Nanjilkottai village in this district of Tamil Nadu.

Police said the incident happened when was Hundri(40) going to is village last night.

The Cauvery delta region of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall since yesterday, with Thanjavur recording the maximum of 10.6 cm, followed by Orathanadu 10.3 cm, Thiruvarur 9.1 cm, Nagapattinam 8.4 cm, Vettikadu 7 cm, Mannargudi 5.4 cm and Thiruthuraipoondi 4.2 cm.

Following incessant rains in the delta area, the PWD reduced water supply for irrigation to 10,000 cusecs.

Farmers in the delta region were a happy lot as the rains have come at the right time of samba cultivation.
