On day of retirement he bids permanent farewell

Vadodara, Aug 1 (UNI) A safai karmachari of Netrang village of Valia taluka in Bharuch district committed suicide on the day of his retirement over grievances pertaining to his gratuity and other retirement arrears under the Pay Commission.

Naginbhai Somabhai Solanki. who had joined the service on November 1, 1964, was to retire yesterday and before the day ended he had already doused himself with kerosene in the morning killing himself.

A few days back he had taken the sarpanch of his Netrang village to Gandhinagar to meet higher officials to resolve his grievances regarding gratuity and other benefits. He had been corresponding with his higherups in writing too for past three to four months, sources said.

Police sources said he took the extreme step as he was depressed.
