Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 1 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today asserted that the drive against encroachment of public land in the hilly tracts of Munnar would resume from August 10.

Addressing newspersons after a Cabinet meeting, he said the eviction process was put on hold a few weeks ago due to inclement weather.

Mr Achuthanandan said Special Task Force Special Officer K Suresh Kumar and I G Rishraj Singh have applied for leave on health grounds and new personnel would be deployed in place of them.

The Cabinet also decided to promulgate an ordinance to make amendments in the Self Financing Professional Colleges Act in accordance with the High Court order on the matter, he said.

Terming as ''unfortunate'', the Pastoral letter released in churches against the educational policies of the government, he said the Left Democratic Front Government had no plans to infringe upon the internal affairs of the institutions run by these authorities.
