MP Cong demands inquiry into protest during Governor's programme
Bhopal, Aug 1 (UNI) The main Opposition Congress has demanded a high-level inquiry into sloganeering by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on the occasion of Foundation Day of the Barkatullah University in the presence of Governor Balram Jakhar here today.
In a statement issued here today, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi demanded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to order a high-level inquiry into the misbehaviour.
She said creating chaos in the programme of Governor was not an insult of a person but an insult to the dignity of the Constitution and democracy.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the state Congress had demanded restraining activities of the ABVP. It stated the situation could have deteriorated if security guards of the Governor had not stopped the students from raising slogans.
Earlier, ABVP workers had raised slogans demanding removal of Bhoj Mukt University's vice-chancellor Kamlakar Singh. The students wanted to meet the Governor but police stopped them. Dr Singh was present on the scene.
