Modi to hoist flag on August 15 in Mehsana

Gandhinagar, Aug 1 (UNI) In its tradition of not confining the Independence day celebration to the state capital of Gandhinagar by celebrating it in different cities, the Gujarat government will hold this year's 61st Independence day celebration in Mehsana, about 70 km from Gandhinagar.

According to a release, Chief Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag on August 15 in Mehsana, after which he will supervise the afforestation drive of 'Narmadavan Project'.

Celebrations would also be conducted in other talukas of various districts in the state, including Dhoraji taluka of Rajkot district, where State Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala will hoist the flag.

All talukas will undertake one-day plantation drive after the flag hoisting programme at 0900 hrs, the release added.
