Mahto praises police for recovering kidnapped trader

Jamshedpur, Aug 01 (UNI) Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto today lauded Jharkhand police for safe rescue of abducted industrialist Vishwanath Garg here from a hideout in Patna on Monday.

Mr Garg was kidnapped along with driver of his car when he was returning home from his iron ore processing plant at Chandil in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on July 17.

State police with the help of Bihar police formed several teams and conducted raids in a number of hideouts in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal.

After 13 days the joint police team finally traced Mr Garg from the cluthces of the abductors following an encounter.

One abductor was killed in the encounter and five were held by police.

Police also recovered a large cache of arms from the kidnappers.

Mr Mahto said the government would announce rewards for the police personnel.
