Leprosy patients protest home-shifting proposal

Tirupati, Aug 1 (UNI) A group of leprosy patients observed a dharna in the TTD-run S V Poor home premises here today protesting TTD's proposal to shift them from S V Poor premises to Srinevasa Magapuram.

At least 60 patients staged the dharna against the TTD's recent decision to shift the leprosy home along with the old-age home for the construction of the TTD employees' quarters.

Alleging that the decision was against the norms as the land was donated by the Sri Vari pligrims, the agitators said this would affect the sentiments of the devotees.

The agitation would be intensified if the decision was not revoked, they added.
