New York, Aug 1 (UNI) Jet Airways, India's leading domestic airlines, will launch a daily flight between New York and Mumbai via Brussels on August 5.

The flight will depart Newark International Airport in neighbouring New Jersey (state) at 8.25 pm and will arrive in Mumbai at 11.30 pm the following day. From Mumbai, the flight will leave at 2.10 am and arrive in Newark at 11.55 am the same day.

The airline is in an expansion program costing 3.7 billion dollars with Boeing 777 and Airbus 330 numbering in all 20 planes.

Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal while inaugurating the US-India service said, '' Please try us out. If we make mistakes in the first flight, don't write us off.'' He also said for making a stopover in Belgium.

''We saw that having a stopover brings more profitability than with non-stop flights. And we want to give our shareholders the maximum benefit,'' he said.

Mr Goyal stated that the routing of Jet Airways flights via Brussels is the result of creation of the airline's European hub in the Belgian capital.

Jet Airways was founded in 1993, two years after India embarked upon an economic liberalization program.

Air-India, the nation's flag carrier, had already announced the launching of a New York-Mumbai direct flight beginning today.
