JD(U) MP Ajit Singh killed in road accident; RJD MLA injured

Siwan, Aug 1 (UNI) JD(U) MP from Vikramganj Ajit Kumar Singh was killed and former RJD MLA Umashankar Singh critically injured when a bus hit them near Amolisarsar village on Siwan-Gopalganj road today.

JD(U) National General secretary and spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari told UNI here that the bus hit the singh while he was talking to the former MLA by the side of the road.

The JD(U) MP was soon rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

District Magistrate S K Mull said here that the body of the MP was kept at the Sadar hospital.

He said the former MLA, who sustained serious injuries, was undergoing treatment at a private nursing home.

Five more people were also injured in the accident and admitted to the Sadar hospital.

The DM said the MP was on way to Gopalganj after attending a cooperatives meeting in Siwan when the accident took place.

The bus driver and the cleaner, however, escaped.

Police Superintendents and District Magistrates of Siwan and Chappra were camping at the hospital.
