Jaya warns Karunanidhi of legal action

Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) General Secretary AIADMK J Jayalalithaa today warned of legal action, if Chief Minister M Karunanidhi did not stop levelling false charges against her on the pretext of statements.

Taking exception to Mr Karunanidhi's remarks that she had denied permission to the project during her regime as she had entered into a pact with a local ''dada,'' who was illegally mining the minerals, she said she would initiate legal action if the Chief Minister did not stop levelling such wild allegations.

Describing as ''atrocious'' charge that she had connection with a local ''dada,'' Ms Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said she had no connection with any ''dada.'' On the charge that the file relating to the project was lying in the Chief Minister's secretariat for a year, she said she did not sign the file with regard to the setting up of the project in Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts and could not be held responsible if the file was not sent back from the secretariat.
