Jamiat Ulema condemns killing of S Korean hostages by Taliban

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) The Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind today condemned the killing of innocent South Korean civilian hostages in Afghanistan, saying such savage acts had no sanction in Islam.

Jamiat General Secretary Maulana Mehmood Madani appealed to the Afghanistan Government to exercise utmost restraint in dealing with the crisis, so as to secure the safe release of the remaining hostages.

He also appealed to all humanitarian and peace loving organisations and leaders to come forward and exercise their influence to get the hostages released.

The abductors are demanding the release of Taliban prisoners for the release of South Korean hostages, but the Afghan government has so far not shown any indication to release them.

Taliban insurgents kidnapped a total of 23 South Koreans on July 19 in the central Ghazni province.
