Indo Bangla talks to focus on terrorism, border management
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) The Eighth Round of India-Bangladesh Home Secretary Level Talks tomorrow would focus on terrorism, border management, flood control and embankments.
The Indian side at the two-day talks would be headed by the Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and would include Director General of the Border Security Force while the Bangladesh Home Secretary Mohd Abdul Karim would lead his country's delegation alongwith Director General, Bangladesh Rifles.
The issues of internal security, embankment, flood control, fencing of border and terrorism would be discussed at the meeting.
Terrorists and criminals crossing the border after committing crime would also come up, especially ULFA leaders staying in that country, Home ministry sources said here.
The deliberations may also include starting trains between Kolkata and Dhaka. The issue had come up earlier at the Additional Secretary level talks recently, where India insisted on the fencing of railway tracks to protect them, while Bangladesh said it would consider the demand.
''The issue may be resolved during these talks,'' they added.
The Bangladeshi delegation is also likely to visit the National Police Academy at Hyderabad before it returns to Dhaka.
The talks were part of the bilateral institutional mechanism set up in 1994 to resolve security and border management issues. Former Home Secretary V K Duggal had visited Dhaka for talks last year.
