HNLC says Dorphang swindles Rs 2 crore from HNLC
Shillong, Aug 1 (UNI) The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council has alleged that its 'former Chairman' Julius Dorphang, decamped with the outfit's fund of Rs 2 crore.
"How dare he (Dorphang) still claimed himself to be Chairman of HNLC, when he surrendered himself and decamped the outfit's more than Rs. 2 crore and sold away property of the organisation including arms of his security personnel," HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said.
In a press statement issued to local dailies here, Nongtraw said Dorphang's actions will not only bring a downfall to the outfit but also extreme difficulties in the survival of its existing members.
The outlawed HNLC has also ridiculed Dorphang's desire to play the role of a negotiator for other militant outfits of the region.
The statement also rubbished Dorphang's claim that HNLC general secretary and 'C-in-C' did not understand the meaning of peace.
However, before any negotiation with the HNLC the State government should responded positively to the letter sent by the outfit earlier in this connection, the statement said.
