Guj HC directs police to complete investigation against MLA
Ahmedabad, Aug 1 (UNI) The Gujarat High Court today directed the Deputy Superintendent of Anand to complete the investigation against the sitting BJP MLA Dilipbhai Manibhai Patel within four weeks and submit the report before an ''appropriate court''.
The direction was issued by Justice M R Shah following a complaint that the local police were delaying the investigation in a case against the BJP MLA.
The court noted the assurance given by the senior police officer for initiating departmental proceedings against the two police officers -- R C Dave and R K Patel -- and also produce on record a copy of the chargesheet, if any, to be issued against the police officers for failing in their duties and not carrying out the direction of the higher authorities as well as not carrying out the investigation.
The court said the act of the said police officers is tantamount to act of insubordination. A compliant was filed against the MLA in Vidhyanagar Police Station for offences punishable under sections 342, 323, 504, 506(2) and 114 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 135 of the Bombay Police Act, but but PSI did not complete the investigation and the complaintant moved the High Court, seeking direction against the erring police officers.
