Food Corporation of India to be Public Utility Service for 6 month
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) The Food Corporation of India, (FCI), has been declared a public utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for six months with effect from July 31, 2007.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in this regard, it has been done in public interest.
The employees in this industry, as a result, would among other things be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike, so that conciliatory proceedings could be started.
During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees in this industry cannot go on strike.
