Fake drug racket;Drug Inspector arrested,house raided

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1 (UNI) The vigilance department has seized property worth over Rs 41 lakh from the house of suspended Drug Inspector T Vasudev Rao and his close relatives.

Vigilance department sources said the sleuths yesterday raided the residence of Mr Rao, who was in-charge of Bolangir and Sonepur, where the police stumbled upon a huge cache of spurious drug manufacturing unit and seized fake medicines worth crores of rupees.

The Drug Inspector was initially suspended from the job but later arrested for his invlovement in the proliferation of spurious drugs in the state.

Vigilance sources said the houses of Rao's father-in-law and brother,the pharmaceutical shop at Berhampur and the office-cum -residence at Bolangir were simultaneously raided and seizures made.

Besides immovable property, movable property like deposits in bank, post offices and private financial institutions were found during the raids.
