Envoys appointed to Russia, Libya, Romania

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Ms. M. Manimekalai, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1981 batch, has been appointed Ambassador to Libya while Mr P. P. Shukla will be the new envoy to the Russian Federation.

Ms Manimekalai, a 1981 batch IFS officer, is presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Mr Shukla, an IFS oficer of 1974 batch and presently High Commissioner to Australia, will be replaced by Ms. Sujatha Singh, presently Joint Secretary in the External Affairs Ministry, Her appointment as envoy to Australia was announced yesterday.

In another announcement by the External Affairs Ministry today, Mr D. Chakravarti, a 1977 batch IFS officer and presently High Commissioner to Tanzania, will be the next Ambassador to Romania.
