Embankment of Kareh breached at Samastipur

Samastipur, Aug 1 (UNI) The embankment of Kareh river here breached in two places this morning following heavy rains for the past few days.

District Magistrate N Sravan Kumar said the embankment breached in about 150 metre stretch near Patla village under Hassanpur block inundating more than 20 villages. He said the embankment of the river also cracked in about 70 m long stretch near Mahadevshankarpur village under Shivajinagar block posing flood threats in Khagaria and Begusarai districts.

High alert had been sounded on Rosera sub-division and the people were being shifted to safer places.

Mr Kumar said leakage of water continued following crack in a gate of the dam over river Budhiandak near Harpur village under Pusa block.

The repair work had been launched on war footing.

UNI
