CR'S Mumbai Div creates record freight loading in one day
Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) The Mumbai division of Central Railway (CR) has recorded a landmark in freight loading in one day, when it loaded 26 container trains from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).
''This is the highest ever container loading done by Railway from JNPT in a single day yesterday,'' a CR communique claimed today.
In another similar achievement, the CR loaded 536 import container trains from JNPT at an average of 17 trains per day, which again is the highest ever average loading.
As a part of improving port connectivity, the CR has completed a massive project of doubling the line from Panvel to JNPT in August 2006.
With the double line in place now, the CR has geared up to load 30 container trains from JNPT everyday, which will not only help in faster movement of imported cargo, but also in the country's exim trade in the long run, the release said.
