Cracks in Shiv Sena-BJP over scrapping of ULC
Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) Cracks in the Saffron alliance of Shiv Sena and BJP became evident even on the floor of the House today, after BJP supported repealing of the Urban Land Ceiling Act while the Sena opposed it.
Participating in the discussion, senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said while repealing this act, the government should take care that poor and Marathi people get justice. Madhu Chavan also echoed the same view.
But, Diwakar Raote (Sena) opposed the repeal of the act, saying when the law was enacted by then prime minister Indira Gandhi for providing houses to poor and needy people, why should it now be scrapped? The law was enacted in 1976. However, barring West Bengal, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, all the states have scrapped the same.
