Court issues notice to Dera chief in murder case

Ambala, Aug 1 (UNI) CBI Duty Magistrate Praveen Kumar today issued notices to Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh and three others to appear in the court on August 31 in connection with a murder case.

The notices were issued under Section 120 B (read with Section 302) of IPC in the murder case of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati.

Besides the Dera Chief, the other accused in the case--Kishan Lal, Kuldip and Nirmal--were also asked to be present in the court on August 31.

Meanwhile, counsel for the accused Anil Kaushal applied for the certified copy of the chargesheet filed by the CBI in the special court on July 30.

Ram Chander Chhatrapati, an editor of the local periodical from Sirsa, was allgedly attacked by the Dera followers on October 24, 2002. He succumbed to his injuries after 27 days on November 21.

The High Court ordered the CBI enquiry when Anshul, son of Ram Chander Chhatarpati, filed a petition on November 10, 2003.
