BJP to launch stir against UPA's 'anti-farmer policies'
Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch an agitation during the monsoon session of Parliament against the Congress-led UPA government for pursuing 'anti-farmer' policies, party national official spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said today.
Demanding that the Centre increase the remunerative prices of all agriculture produce and provide institutionl credit in all farmers at 4 per cent interest, Mr Javadekar told newspersons here that the present institutional credit to farmers was insufficient and the scheme should cover all peasants.
The recent package announced by the Centre for agriculture sector would not instill confidence in farmers, he said, adding that the package money has not reached them either.
He demanded that the Centre introduce a minimum income guarantee insurance scheme for small and marginal farmers and address the problems of the farm sector in the country.
