Aviation fuel hiked by 3.3%

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) State-owned oil marketing companies have today raised the prices of domestic Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by 3.3 per cent and international ATF by 4.6 per cent.

The present cost in Delhi after the increment will be Rs 39,059.45 per kilo litre (kl) with the previous price being Rs 37,799 per kl. Similarly in Mumbai the price has been hiked from Rs 39,062 per kl to Rs 40,388.40 per kl.

In Kolkata the revised price of ATF will stand at Rs 44,834.07 per kl compared to the previous price of Rs 43,508 per kl. In Chennai the new price stands at Rs 42,572.67 per kl as compared to Rs 41,204 per kl.

The International ATF price has been hiked by 4.6 per cent with prices in Delhi being 741.59 dollar per kl, Mumbai at 780 dollar per kl, Kolkata at 735.66 dollar per kl and Chennai at 726 dollar per kl.

ATF rates have been fluctuating since the beginning of this year. They went up in January, fell in February and rose again for three consecutive months in March, April and May, followed by a drop in June. Oil marketing companies come out with jet fuel rates every month.

Currently, the total fuel bill component in an air ticket is estimated at around Rs 950 and passengers are paying anywhere around Rs 1,300-1,375 as taxes and surcharge, over and above the basic fares of the airlines.
