Bangalore, Aug 1: Dr Mohammed Haneef, the Indian Doctor freed after being charged with terrorism related issues in Australia, today said that the Australian government had quoted him out of context on the internet chat he had with his brother from Australia.

Speaking at a hurridly convened press conference here, he said "Let the Australian government release the full text of the chat I had with my brother Shoaib. Then you will understand better." Answering in the affirmative that he was quoted out of contest on the chat issue, Dr Haneef said that the Australian Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews had come out with only a few lines from the chat and not the full text. "Our legal team has asked the Australian Police for the complete text of the second transcript. There is nothing new in the disclosures nor it was a classified information," he said.

Mr Andrews had come out with the details of internet chat Haneef had with his brother saying that it was evident that the Indian Doctor had prior information about the failed Glasgow Airport attack in which two of his cousins -- Kafeel and Sabeel Ahmed are allegedly involved.

Dr Haneef refused to answer most of the questions, mainly those on the internet chat saying that he had been advised by his legal team that he should not comment on any of the issues as his application against the revocation of his Visa by the Australian authorities was in the court and the next hearing was fixed for August eight.

Dr Haneef informed that the AFP had questioned him in detail about the chat he had with his brother and he had done nothing wrong. "I have answered to all the queries from AFP with regard to the chat. But I cannot elaborate," he said. Dr Haneef refused to respond to another question that Bangalore police had sent a report allegedly linking him with terror acts saying that "I have nothing to say." The Indian doctor's cousin Imran Siddiqui, who had gone to Australia while Haneef was in solitary detention with the AFP, said the legal team had filed an affidavit with an Australian court seeking the second transcript of AFP questioning Haneef.

Agreeing to a question that Dr Haneef indeed had a chat with his brother on the internet he said, "He chatted with his brother on the internet on regular basis. The Australian Immigration minister had said that this could not be revealed as it would be produced in the court. But had to release it later. It will be taken up by our legal team. But this is not a classified information or the secret evidence as claimed by that government." Mr Siddiqui said that the legal team had asked the family not to go to the press and said that it would be sending written statements for whatever clarifications sought by the Indian media. "We will release statements sent by our legal team in Australia to the media here and if needed will hold more press conferences," he said.

He said that the family had thought that the ordeal the Indian doctor had undergone would end once he reached India but unfortunately it had not been so.

On persisted questions to Dr Haneef, Mr Siddiqi said, "Please understand Dr Haneef's difficulties. He has been out of detention for less a week. He need time to regain himself," he said.
