AP Cabinet nod for land to IT majors

Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) In an effort to promote growth of Information Technology and IT-enabled services in Andhra Pradesh, the state cabinet today gave its approval for allocating land to information technology majors Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) and Cognizant Technology Solutions India (P) Ltd.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, ratified the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation's decision to allot 40 acre of land to Cognizant and 75 acre to the TCS at Rs 40 lakh per acre, Information Minister A Ramanarayan Reddy told reporters.

While Cognizant had committed to invest Rs 330 crore and build around 20 lakh sq ft by 2012, TCS promised to invest Rs 400 crore and build around 15 lakh sq ft employing 15,000 people by 2013, he said.

The state government was committed to create three lakh jobs in the IT sector by 2009, he added.
