All Party meeting to be held for consensus on Industrialisation
Kolkata, Aug 1(UNI) Renewing his appeal to the opposition for dialogues, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said his Government would move ahead with the industrialisation process on the basis of a consensus among all political parties.
In a statement on the last day of the budget session in the state Assembly, the Chief Minister said he was taking initiative for another all-party meeting to pave way for a consensus on industrialisation and development.
" I appeal to all political parties for holding dialogues for development of the state. I hope for reaching a consensus on the issue to move ahead," he said.
Mr Bhattacharjee, however, said though the proposed chemical hub had been withdrawn from Nandigram, the project was irreversible and would come up somewhere else.
" What happened in Nandigram is unfortunate. We have withdrawn the chemical hub from there. But it has to be set up. The centre has selected West Bengal from among four states because of its potential. We cannot afford to let it go out of our hands," he said.
Observing that a "peculiar situation" had emerged in the state over the issue of industrialisation, the Chief Minister said the move would be sustained taking everybody's help.
