A tryst with tonsure for applicants

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 1 (UNI) To cope with pilgrim rush, interviews were conducted for 2,063 barbers for 113 posts for appointment on contract basis today.

According to Kalyana Katta sources, of the 2,063 applicants, interviews were conducted for 1,063 candidates on the first day yesterday with the remaining interviews held today.The results were likley to be declared tomorrow.

Each candidate had to take up 'practical' examination in tonsure on Srivari devotees who visted the temple to fulfill their vows, for three minutes. The entire process videographed. The process was overseen by Temple Joint Executive Officer G Balaramaiah.
