30 talukas in Guj receive moderate rain
Gandhinagar, Aug 1 (UNI) Gujarat received moderate rainfall in the past 24 hours since the second spell of rains began lashing the State from July 28.
According to a State Meteorological Department release, 30 talukas received moderate rains. Of these talukas, Morbi in Rajkot district received 71 mm, Viramgam of Ahmedabad district 46 mm, Vadia of Amreli district 51 mm, Khambhaliya of Jamnagar district 45 mm and Himmatnagar of Sabarkantha district received 50 mm of rainfall.
As the result of the monsoon, 13 reservoirs in central Gujarat and 16 in Saurashtra region are overflowing. Today, the State reservoirs recorded 9423.18 million qubic meter of water storage, which was 9293.25 million qubic meter last year.
High alert was issued to 54 reservoirs that stored 90 to 100 per cent of water and 17 reservoirs that stored 70 to 80 percent of water.
