Two injured in Delta Jute Mill collapse

Howrah, July 31 (UNI) At least two people were injured when upper floors of a three-storeyed Delta Jute Mill collapsed here today.

The incident occurred at 1600 hrs, when some workers were repairing a washroom on the building's second floor. The jute mill, located under Sakhrail police station, was an old building and repairment work was being done on this floor, when the second and first floors collapsed. The ground floor holds the chamber of the mill and it is suspected that a few labourers may still be trapped there.

The Delta Jute Mill is a big mill with a large number of labourers being employed for its functioning.

Block Congress President Tonmoy Sardar said, ''I suspect there may still be a few more labourers trapped underneath the rubble.

Rescue operation should continue until they are found.'' However, no bodies have yet been recovered and nobody else has been rescued.
