Tuensang town tense as rival cadres out to lord over area
Kohima, Jul 31 (UNI) Tension ran high at Tuensang, the district headquarters, today following a report saying that some hundreds of NSCN(K) armed cadres were out to free the town from the clutches of rival NSCN(I-M) cadres.
An official report here said that the exact numbers of the NSCN (K) cadres, who have been camping at the outskirt of the Tuensang town since yesterday, were yet to be ascertained but the eye witnesses said some 150 gunmen were roaming the areas.
Panic gripped among the people in the vicinity as inter-factional clash may erupt any time and may cause damage to the life and property of the civilians.
The district administration was trying to pacify the warring factions and advised them not to fight in the populated areas.
Meanwhile, security forces deployed in some vulnerable points where fights may erupt, sources said.
