Toll rises to 80 due to monsoon-related diseases

Mumbai, July 31 (UNI) One more person has succumbed to monsoon- related diseases here today, taking the toll to 80 since the onset of monsoon this year.

A 56-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at King Edwards Memorial Hospital, succumbed to leptospirosis, said civic health authorities.

The health authorities added that the patient was brought to the hospital on Monday and expired on the same day.

Since yesterday, 279 patients have been admitted in the 24 Corporation-run hospitals, for various monsoon-related diseases.
