Syndicate Bank to survey all families in DK
Mangalore, July 31: The Manipal based public sector Syndicate Bank has taken up survey of all the families in the Dakshina Kannada district to bring them under the banking fold by initially opening no frill Savings Bank accounts and planned to declare the district as 100 per cent financially included district 'shortly'.
According to a press release here today, the Bank had initiated in conducting meetings of representatives of all Banks having their branches in the district. As per the direction from Reserve Bank of India, survey of all the families in the district would be carried out and no frill savings bank account with zero balance or minimum balance would be opened in the name of the eligible members of the family if they have no account with any of the bank, society or post office.
The job of conducting the survey had been entrusted to the three Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Navodaya Vikas Charitable Trust, Mangalore, Nagarika Seva Trust, Guruvayanakere and Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Dharmastala which have already started the survey work.
All the information collected during the survey would help the bank and the government departments to prepare the family credit plan based on the necessity of the individual family and also to get the benefits under government sponsored programmes.
