Social activist lodges complaint against Goa health minister

Panaji, July 31 (UNI) Noted social activist Aires Rodrigues today lodged a criminal complaint against Goa Health Minister Viswajit Rane for allegedly threatening him with his life.

Copies of the complaint that he had filed with the Old Goa Police were also sent to Chief Secretary of Goa, Director-General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Panaji.

Mr Rodrigues urged the police to initiate action against the Minister who, he alleged, had threatened to kill him if he contiuned to expose his misdeeds.

He had allegedly received the threagening call on his mobile phone saying ''This is Vishwajeet Rane. Be careful. I will get you shot'' and hung up.

Adv Rodrigues alleged that he received the call at about 0815 hrs while he was at his Ribandar office. He apprehended that the call was made to threaten him because of his actions as spokesman of 'Utt Goenkara' in exposing the alleged misdeeds of Mr Rane.

Meanwhile, a local NGO Utt Goenkara had condemned the incident and warned against politicians intimidating and threatening social activists.
