Six held with fake visa

Chennai, July 31 (UNI) Airport police arrested six people for allegedly attempting to fly to London with fake visas, at Anna International airport here last night.

Police said the arrested were identified as Anbu(33), Anburaj(34), Thamilosai(24), Bhoopathy(42), Sukumar(30) and Rajkamal(24), all tailors by profession and hailed from Mannargudi near Thanjavur.

They were recruited by a local travel agent for the post of tailors in London and were sent to Colombo for one month training.

However, when they reached Colombo, the training authorities informed their inability to provide training to them due to the prevailing situations in the island nation. Hence, they were given visas for London trip, via Chennai.

All of them arrived here last night from Colombo. The immigration authorities who examined their visas detected them as fake.

Later, all of them were handed over to local police. They were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

However, the advocates of the arrested and the training authorities argued that their visas were genuine. The police sent the visas to UK authorities for confirming genunity.
