New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Reserved category doctors at AIIMS continued their hunger strike, against caste discrimination in the selection of senior residents in the institute, on the 13th day today.

The striking doctors are demanding due implementation of the reservation policy in the institute and submitting all information pertaining to selection of resident doctors to the high-power committee set up by the Union Health and family Welfare Ministry.

''Our demands are genuine and the agitation will continue till they are not fulfilled. We will step up our agitation,'' said Dr Kapil Yadav, a representative of the agitation doctors.

Last week, the doctors, under the aegis of Progressive Medicos a Scientists' Forum, met Union Health Secretary Naresh Dayal who assured them of looking into their demands.

However, the striking doctors turned down the request and decided to continue the agitation.

The doctors have already moved the National Commission for SC/ST alleging caste discrimination in AIIMS. Commission Chief Buta Singh has held two meetings with AIIMS director P Venugopal and sought his explanation on the issue.
