Rally to support breast feeding

Chandigarh, July 31 (UNI) A mass awareness rally will be organised in the city to mark World Breast Feeding Week from August 1 to 7 so as to educate the women about the significance of breast feeding.

An official release said that to highlight this extremely vital issue, a mass awareness rally would be organised collectively by the Paediatrics Health Education Unit of PGI, Childline, Indian Academy of Pediatrics and students of MCMDAV college.

The theme of the Breast Feeding Week is "Beginning Breast Feeding Within An Hour Can Save 2,50,000 Indian Babies Every Year".

The rally will start at MCMDAV College at 0900 hrs and will culminate by submitting memorandum to the Administrator of UT Chandigarh.

"The memorandum will appeal to the Administrator to make provision of protecting, promoting and supporting breast feeding during pregnancy, childbirth and later," the release stated.

During this week a workshop will also be organised for the nurses of the city to promote Breast feeding.
