Raja rules out any rift in left partners over Nandigram and Singur
Bhubaneswar, July 31(UNI) CPI National Secretary D Raja today asserted that the Nandigram and Singur incidents would not create any rift among the coalition Left Front partners in West Bengal.
Addressing a meeting organised to celebrate the completion of 30 years of Left Front rule in West Bengal, Mr Raja said some people were under the impression that the incidents would create differences between the left partners on the issue but they were wrong.
'' We are successfully running a coalition government for the last 30 years and it will be more strengthened in the coming days,'' he said.
''The Left Front government in West Bengal knew how to maintain a balance unitedly,'' he added.
The CPI leader complimented the West Bengal government for ruling the state uninterruptedly for three decades and for its achievements.
Mr Raja said the successful implementation of land reform, panchayati raj system and its consistent fight for more power to the states was an example for other states to follow.
He said the support to the Congress government was a transitory arrangement to help left emerge as a democratic alternative to the capitalistic policy.
They did not support the UPA government on all issues but had serious differences on its foreign policy and economic policy.
Among others Forward block leader and West Bengal Agriculture Minister Naren Dey, CPI-M leader and Rajya Sabha member Basudev Acharya, Orissa CPI-M State committee Secretary Janardan Pati, CPI Utkal state Council Secretary Dibakar Naik and Forward Bloc Orissa state Committee Secretary Santosh Mitra spoke on the occasion.
