Police suspects terrorist network in Tripura
Agartala, July 31 (UNI) Kolkata police have started investigation into the background of Abdul Tayam Rahaman, allegedly a Bangladesh based Ul-Jihad Islamic-Bangladesh (HUI-B) activist, who was arrested in the city with forged identification papers.
Intelligence officials of Lalbazar, Kolkata, have already visited Tripura, and asked their counterparts to expedite the investigation.
Intelligence officials here today said Rahaman, a Bangladeshi national, had procured Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) from Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Agartala, claming to be a resident of L N Bari Road.
Kolkata police picked him up with forged papers in May last that showed Rahaman was a resident of Agartala and his PAN card address said he was residing in Mumbai though he was staying in Delhi, officials said.
Officials added Kolkata police had recovered two international passports from the possession of Rahaman--one issued from India (Tripura) and other from Bangladesh.
SDM Agartala Dulal Das has already ordered a probe into the matter, and declared that all papers presented by Rahaman were false.
Quoting Kolkata police, intelligence officials here said Rahaman had been detained for alleged links with HUI-B terrorist network, active in the West Bengal in the name of Asif Reza Commando Force (ARCS).
