Police smell intl terrorist network in Tripura

Agartala, Jul 31: Kolkata police has launched investigation top dig into the whereabouts of about Abdul Tayam Rahaman, allegedly a Bangladesh based Ul-Jihad Islamic-Bangladesh (HUI-B) activist, who was arrested in the metro with forged identification papers issued from Agartala.

With the directive from Kolkata cops, intelligence officials of Lalbazar, Kolkata, has already visited the state, while asked it's Tripura counterparts to expedite the investigation.

Intelligence officials here today said that Mr Rahaman, a Bangladeshi national procured Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) from Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Agartala, pretending to be a resident of L N Bari Road.

Police from Kolkata picked him up with papers sometimes in May last that showed Rahaman is a resident of Agartala and PAN card address indicated him to be residing in Mumbai though actually he is staying in Delhi, officials said.

Officials added that Kolkata police had recovered two international passports from the possession of Rahaman--one was from India (Tripura) and other from Bangladesh.

SDM Agartala Dulal Das has already ordered probe into the matter, and stated that all papers presented by Rahaman was false.

Quoting Kolkata police, intelligence officials here said that Rahaman had been detained for alleged link with HUI-B terrorist network, active in West Bengal in the name of Asif Reza Commando Force (ARCS).
